AI document-processing pipeline

Invoices, forms and contracts read automatically into structured data, with people reviewing only the uncertain ones.

This is a representative example of a project type we take on — a typical situation, approach and scope — not a description of a specific client engagement. Timelines are indicative; yours will depend on the details.

The situation

Staff re-type information from PDFs and scans into another system all day. Template-based OCR was tried and abandoned because every supplier's layout is different.

How we approach it

  • Build an evaluation set from real documents first, so accuracy is measured rather than felt.
  • Extract with a language model into a strict schema, then validate totals and cross-checks in ordinary code.
  • Route low-confidence results to a fast human review screen.
  • Track cost and accuracy per document type, and keep sensitive data handling explicit.

What gets delivered

  • Extraction pipeline
  • Review and correction interface
  • Accuracy and cost reporting
  • Integration with the destination system
