The situation

Partners keep asking for data access, and so far each one has received a custom export or a direct database login. That doesn't scale, and it isn't safe.

How we approach it

Design the API contract first and review it with a real partner before building.
Build authentication, rate limiting and audit logging as core features.
Publish OpenAPI documentation and a sandbox with realistic data.
Set a versioning and deprecation policy from the start.
