The situation
A distributor wants to sell online, but every customer has negotiated prices, stock lives in an ERP, and re-keying web orders by hand would cancel out the benefit of taking them.
How we approach it
- Keep Shopify for what it is good at — checkout, hosting, payments — and customize around it.
- Build a small integration service that owns the sync and retries safely when either side is down.
- Implement customer-specific price lists and minimum order rules.
- Reconcile stock and orders nightly and alert a human on any mismatch.
